Change In handling of declarations where the goods have not been presented to Customs within 30 days

As of October 1, an automatic rejection will be introduced on the 31st day after the declaration date for import declarations sent to Digitoll clearance units where the goods have not been presented to Customs authorities.

As of October 1, an automatic rejection will be introduced on the 31st day after the declaration date for import declarations sent to Digitoll clearance units where the goods have not been presented to Customs authorities.

This means that Customs representatives will no longer need to contact Norwegian Customs to reject declarations for goods that will not cross the border into Norway. This change will save resources for both businesses and Norwegian Customs.

If the goods have been imported into Norway but Customs clearance has not yet been completed, you can find information about the process here

A new message will be introduced to the Customs representative—message code (9)985—with the following message text:

“The goods declared have not been presented to Customs within the deadline of 30 days, and the declaration is considered not submitted, cf. Section 3-3 (3) of the Movement of Goods Act. However, if the goods are imported into Norway, see toll.no about post-declaration of goods.”
