Guardians of Norway's borders at sea, on land, and in the air
Our mission is as simple as it is important: To ensure that goods crossing Norway's borders are safe and legal.
On an ordinary Monday, massive amounts of goods are transported across the border. They arrive by plane, ship, cars, and trucks from all over the world, before continuing their journey to businesses and private individuals.
We believe that most people have good intentions when they order goods online or bring items home from abroad. Those who don’t, who transport illegal and dangerous goods across the border, are our responsibility to stop. This includes goods such as drugs, weapons, hazardous products, endangered animal species, fake medicines, and infectious food.
Every day, we inspect people, goods, vehicles, ships, and luggage to ensure that goods complying with Norwegian and international laws and regulations are allowed to cross the border.
Norwegian businesses and international trade depend on a competent and efficient customs authority to ensure fair competition and equal opportunities for growth.
