Norwegian Customs and NHO Logistics and Transport (NHO LT) are very pleased with the roadshow that took place across Norway in May and June.
There was a lot of interest at all locations, with more than 500 participants in total. Oslo and Fredrikstad topped the list with approximately 125 at each location.
- It has been a pleasure to participate in the roadshow with Digitoll and NHO LT. We have received numerous questions which have provided us with valuable insights for our ongoing work, says Marit Rundberget, Senior Advisor in the Development Unit of Norwegian Customs.
- I am surprised by the high turnout, especially in Ålesund and Fredrikstad, which had very strong attendance, says Martin Berntzen Often, responsible for the roadshow from NHO LT's side.
Beneficial for all parties
The roadshow was initiated to provide the business community with useful information about Digitoll and to offer the opportunity to speak directly with a selection of custom’s specialists. Although Norwegian Customs is closely engaged with the business community, the roadshow was valuable for gaining feedback and insights from various businesses across the country.
- It was very useful to get so close to the business community, says Øyvind Hafsøe, Director of Expertise in the Development Unit of Norwegian Customs.
- This was a great success. We gathered large groups of businesses from all over the country. Through the presentations and the subsequent questions and discussions, everyone came out more knowledgeable and with a better understanding of how they are impacted by Digitoll. Having local customs officers involved was extremely valuable, says Martin Berntzen Often.
Wide range among participants
There is no doubt that there were significant differences among the participants who registered for the roadshow in the various cities. This includes the types of transport they operate, the size of their businesses, the goods involved, geographical coverage, customer segments, and technological integration.
- There is a varying degree of knowledge about Digitoll among the businesses, but I think the roadshow helped most of the participants to get a sense of urgency and realize that it is important to get started well before April 1, 2025, says Paul Myrvang, who is responsible for external stakeholder management in Digitoll.
Positive feedback
Feedback from participants has been very positive, and they express their appreciation that Norwegian Customs took the time to visit local areas to inform and help people get started. Local representatives from Norwegian Customs were present at all locations, and their contributions were crucial to the success of the events. Many businesses are eager to get started as soon as possible, while others find there are barriers that make it difficult to start using Digitoll. Norwegian Customs are considering measures to make it easier using Digitoll based on feedback from the Roadshow and public consultation 4 on Digitoll.
This event is the result of excellent cooperation between Norwegian Customs, NHO LT, and local representatives. We would like to thank everyone who participated and contributed to making this possible.
