In connection with the digital Notification and Disclosure of Information obligation, Norwegian Customs provides a query API. The purpose of this API is to enable the business community to verify that what has been submitted is consistent and complete.
Businesses using the APIs are responsible for ensuring that the submission of digital information is correct. A query API makes this easier and will be particularly useful when multiple parties cooperate to submit digital information about transports and consignments to Norwegian Customs.
For example, a transporter can submit information about a transport and link it to master consignmentssubmitted byone or more freight forwarders. The transporter, whichis responsible for fulfilling the Notification and Disclosure of Information obligation, can then use the query APIto verify that the freight forwarders have submitted their master consignments and house consignments and confirm that they are in order.
Even if one party submits all the information, it can be a good ideato check that everything is in order, as far as it can be checked.
For each consignment, there will be a list of document statuses. If everything is in order, this list will be empty. If, for example, if the notificationfor the consignment lacks a reference to the customs procedure, this will be indicated in the document status. The status of a consignment thus indicates whether the submission is complete and what may be missing.
The query interfaces available in the solution are:
-
Check that all masterconsignments of the transport have been submitted
-
Check the status of all consignments of the transport
-
Check the status of all consignments under a masterconsignment
-
Check the status of a consignment
