Norwegian Customs is still working on the feedback from the business community received in connection with public consultation 4, the feedback from NHO Logistics and Transport (NHO LT), and from the spring's Roadshow for the business community.
Norwegian Customs takes the feedback on the implementation of Digitoll seriously and understands that the changes are challenging for affected businesses.
Norwegian Customs is considering various measures to make it easier for the business community to adapt to the discontinuation of the direct transportation scheme and the introduction of digital submission of declarations and reporting and disclosure of information before border crossings from April 1, 2025. This work requires internal clarification and anchoring in Norwegian Customs. Additionally, Norwegian Customs is in dialogue with businesses that have pointed out important challenges through the hearings, and also with NHO LT to ensure that the proposed measures will have the expected effect.
Norwegian Customs will provide more information about the measures to facilitate the transition to Digitoll for businesses as early as possible in the fall of 2024. In the meantime, we encourage all businesses that are affected by the changes to continue their change efforts and adopt Digitoll at an increasing pace. Regulations, system solutions, and Norwegian Customs' practices are in place so that everyone can use Digitoll. Digitoll has great societal benefits, saves time for both the business community and Norwegian Customs, and ensures that important regulations for the import of goods to Norway are followed more efficiently. Furthermore, increased use of Digitoll in the coming months can reveal errors and challenges, ensuring that the transition is as smooth as possible for all involved.
