Moving goods – special cases
Moving goods – special cases
In some cases, a separate application form must be submitted in order for Customs to assess whether the item(s) can be approved as duty-free moving goods. On this page you will find a link to this application form.
Most people moving to Norway do not need to fill out an application form to import their moving goods duty-free.
It is normally sufficient that you contact a customs officer in the red zone and submit a declaration of importation of moving goods to Norwegian Customs, when you arrive at the Norwegian border to undergo customs clearance. You can find the declaration for importation of moving goods, and more information here:
- Importation of removal goods - declaration

You may use this application form, if the following situations applies to you
- If you have moved to Norway more than a year ago and wish to import your belongings as moving goods. If there are special reasons, the Norwegian Customs can extend the one-year deadline.
- If you are importing a recreational vessel to Norway as moving goods.
- If you wish to have an item, which you have already brought to Norway, assessed by the Norwegian Customs afterwards as duty-free moving goods.
There are also some other situations where you, prior to the goods arriving at the Norwegian border, may need clarification concerning whether the goods can be imported duty-free as moving goods. This includes situations where the importation concerns special restricted goods, or goods with a particularly high commercial value.
